The 3 most sophisticated signature drinks for guys

Grooming for men

There’s nothing more sophisticated than having a signature drink and being able to make it perfectly. Except when your signature drink is actually sophisticated.  Just incase you don’t have this covered we’ve compiled a cheat sheet to spice up your basic order with our favourite classic drinks. We can guarantee these 3 drinks will impress. Because sometimes beer just doesn’t cut it.

If you drink bourbon and coke try this….

The Old Fashioned

The Old Fashioned is the drink of choice to Mad Men’s protagonists. If that doesn’t give you a hint as to the sophistication of this drink, maybe only a taste will. In that case, you’re in luck because it’s dead easy:

  • ½  Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Angostura bitters
  • Soda Water
  • As many dashes of bourbon as your heart desires

  • In an ‘old fashioned’ glass add roughly half a teaspoon of sugar and 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters and splash of soda water to dampen the sugar
  • Crush with a spoon
  • Roll the glass to ensure the sugar mixture coats the sides
  • Add desired amount of ice
  • Pour (liberally-hey, no judgement!) in the bourbon

…and you’re done! It’s that easy. Now sit back, take a sip and watch your sophistication ‘cred level up instantly.

If you drink gin and juice try this…

Tom Collins

If you’re bored of sippin’ on gin & juice (no offence Snoop!) the Tom Collins is the step up you’ve been waiting for. If you’re down for sending out more sophisticated and less ‘i just turned 18!’ vibes you definitely need to memorise this recipe.

  • ~60 grams of gin
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • a squeeze of lemon juice
  • splash of soda water
  • a tall glass
  • slice of orange
  • 1 maraschino cherry

Add all ingredients to a shaker over ice, shake, pour into glass over ice. Top up with soda water, add a slice of orange and cherry to garnish.

Wasn’t that easy? And don’t you feel a touch more sophisticated? We thought so.

If you drink milky alcoholic beverages try this…

The White Russian

It’s ok if you’ve only heard of it from a Kanye West verse. We hate to break it to you, but we’re pretty sure a vodka orange never made it to a Yeezy verse. Plus, ordering a White Russian sounds pretty badass (and sophisticated…oh yeah, that too).

  • ~40 grams of Vokda
  • ~20 grams of Kahlua
  • ~20 grams heavy cream

Pour ingredients into shaker over ice, shake. Strain into glass. Done.

Easy peasy, minus the lemon squeezy. This drink may sound sweet, but it packs a serious punch.
