Three Melbourne Cup MUST KNOW Style tips To beat the heat

It’s that time of year again! Spring racing season is upon us and the race that stops the nation, the Melbourne Cup is just around the corner which means it’s time to scrub up.

Melbourne Cup can be one of the best days of the year if you plan it right, but regardless of what your plans are it’s almost guaranteed that you’re going to need to dress it up.

So to get you looking race ready, we thought we would clue you up on some of our favourite looks.

Firstly, lets face it – It will probably be extremely hot so you will want to be dressed appropriately. Leave the jeans at home and opt for the twice rolled chinos. This is always a classy look but it also means you can get away with some breeze to the legs.

If you’re going the chinos option, pair them with some nice boaters. If your chinos are a sandy beige colour, consider a navy boater to keep the look crisp. Otherwise, a nice option is a navy blue chino with brown leather loafers.

It’s always a difficult call with the shirt and jacket combination in the heat so focus on the details if you want to ditch the jacket. Details like a bow tie will distract the eye away from rolled sleeves. Alternatively, go with a linen Ralph Lauren oxford if you want to wear the unbuttoned casual look with rolled sleeves.

If you are going to commit to the jacket, then add a subtle pocket square. The only rule here is make sure you match it to your shirt or tie if you’re wearing one.

Now you’re race ready – best of luck against the bookies.
